The profession of managing a herd of fighting bulls involves a mixture of science and alchemy.
Usually working on horseback, property hands carry out the long process of preparing the bulls, which ends with the bulls in the bullring on the day of the ‘corrida’.  The fundamental test of the selection process is the ‘tienta’.  Tested by a professional bullfighter, the best heifers will be selected to become the mothers of future fighting bulls.  It is in this natural laboratory that the sensibility of the owner for particular traits in his bulls becomes evident.
When fully mature, and after five years of contented life, the bull leaves for his destiny to show the qualities of its breed, bravery and nobility.  Finally, it is given the opportunity to express the attributes that for so long it has held guarded deep within.
